Handset sales expected to fall due to popularity of sim only deals

The UK is gearing up for a fall in sales of mobile phone handsets. The main reason being that many people are favoring SIM only deals instead in order to save money.

The quantity and range of mobile phone handsets on the market continues to increase year on year, with continuing new and exciting handsets being released every month. This may not be such as good thing in the future as there will be 100,000’s of handsets sat on sat on shelves not being sold.

Official statements from the leading mobile phone manufacturers and network providers have all agreed that people are increasingly favouring sim only contracts in order to reduce their monthly outgoings. It’s an inevitable step considering the ongoing financial crisis, which has caused everyone to save money wherever possible.

Ofcom have suggested that the mobile phone boom will very shortly end as it reaches saturation point. People will increasingly be favouring sim only deals, whereby they keep their old handset and benefit from lower monthly repayments and increased value.

An expert in the industry commented that people will no longer feel the need to upgrade their handsets each year, which is a luxury that the majority of people don’t need. On top of this people are keen to leave the purchase of handsets until 4G technology becomes available, with the next level of handsets quickly following suite.

SIM only deals not only allow the customer to reduce their monthly outgoings, but they also receive more value for their money as there isn’t the cost of a princely handset to cater for. People can enjoy extra minutes, texts and internet usage for less money than a standard pay monthly contract!
